Dalia Ferreira - Photo Collages as New form of Art

Created on during About our artworks

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
— Elliott Erwitt

In the 21st century, we do not think about where to keep our photos, as we all use online apps and galleries to store our uncountable galleries of memories. The days of buying photo albums for storing photos are gone. We do not even save photos at the discs, as it's already such an old-school habit.

BeArte Gallery moves with the times and we believe in art in all its manifestations at any time. So we are happy that technical progress brings us new and new possibilities. But have you ever thought, that for example, your vacation photos could be used in a different way? That, actually, there is a second life to a bunch of nice photos you will hardly review in the future. And we are not talking about auto created movies the google suggests you once a while. We are talking about simple photos becoming a piece of art.

Magic is real! BeArte Gallery is happy to introduce you a real digital magician - a fantastic Dalia Ferreira. The magic starts when Dalia transforms simple photos into truly incredible works of art. Her journalistic background brought her into the artistic world of photography.

Besides that, she knows how to put ordinary, at first glans, photos together and transform them into a modern digital piece of art. A piece of art that has absolutely unique features which can't be displayed or repeated by anyone else. As every artwork has its own story, city, time and memory.

Dalia: “We bring pieces of the cities we visit home with us. We classify them, we save elements in our private emotional jars: the noise, the speed, the street, the architecture, the stories of each pedestrian we come across, their fears, their joys… All of that is enclosed and bottled in our heart, our soul, so we can see them again and again, from our private sphere.”

But if you are among those who always searches for art with a deep sense. Then, BeArte Gallery introduced you to the right artist. As for example in artworks of 'Villes à bout du Souffle' series, which can also be found at Gallery BeArte, you'll find deep sense behind simple digital cover.

BeArte Gallery asked Dalia to share her thoughts with our readers, that may explain the true meaning hidden in her works of art:

"The series invites to think in a critical and ironic way about our future as humanity. The man only has 200 thousand years of the 4 billion years that the planet has. There are urban growths motivated by poverty and not by wealth. This artwork was created in France, the subway station original picture was taken in Manhattan and the hens are from a Venezuelan farm. This about climate change and the global disorder we are living in these times. Our planet is a miracle. Living matter is still a mystery. The agriculture founded the first cities and civilizations on the earth. It was the first revolution of man and such will be one of the last.”

It is definitely a new way of mixing photography and art in a way that can truly reflect many things that are very related to us. The art critic John Berger once said:

"Unlike any other visual image, a photograph is not a rendering, an imitation or an interpretation of its subject, but actually a trace of it. No painting or drawing, however naturalist, belongs to its subject in the way that a photograph does."

BeArte Gallery believes in these words. As when you look at Dalia's artworks you realize how much common you have with each of them. In every work you can find yourself or your friends, or simply places you have been to.

Already intrigued? Then BeArte Gallery would be happy to make a tour for you through Dalia's artworks. All of them can be found here.
